Bio

Jann Huizenga is an award-winning writer, photographer, and ELT teacher educator. She's currently at work on a memoir, Kissing Sicilians, about life in Ragusa, Sicily, where she's lived off and on since 2002. Her travel articles have been published in The New Mexican and Transitions Abroad. Her many books for ELT students include an anthology of literature, Arrivals: Cross-Cultural Experiences in Literature (Pearson), The Totally True series (Oxford), and a history of the American Revolution. She was the cross-cultural consultant for the PBS series Crossroads Cafe.

She's taught at the City University of New York, the University of New Mexico, the College Of Santa Fe, the University of Montana, and the University of Catania at Ragusa, among other places. She's received three Fulbright awards (Sarajevo, Istanbul, and Sicily) as well as three dozen travel grants from the Academic Specialist Office at the U.S. State Department, which have allowed her to conduct reading and writing workshops in Russia, Mongolia, Chile, South Africa, Poland, Morocco, Mexico, Albania, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Kuwait, Croatia, Slovenia, and Slovakia. Recent author tours for Oxford University Press have taken her to Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. She lived two years in France.
